Orbis is a token with a distributor built into it. ETH that reaches the contract is shared between holders in proportion to how much they hold, over time, by a rule written in the contract.

The rule

ETH deposited during an epoch streams during the next epoch. At every moment of the stream, the part released is split over every eligible balance. What has been released to you is yours to claim whenever you choose.

What it is not

  • It is not a share in a company. Holding ORBIS gives no ownership of, or claim on, any company or asset beyond the fee distribution described here.
  • It is not a promise of any amount. Fees exist only if trading happens, so amounts can be small or zero.
  • It is not audited. It is experimental software.
  • It is not affiliated with Robinhood.

What is still open

There is no automatic fee source yet: at launch, ETH arrives only through voluntary deposits. Supply (1,000,000,000 ORBIS), epoch (24 hours) and launch caps (1 ETH per deposit, 10 ETH unclaimed) are fixed or set on mainnet; see Contracts for the addresses.
